Like the first three games, this was a great one to watch. The game was back and forth with a lot of action overall, just like the whole series. Lots of hits, lots of shots, and just great enegy.
The Canadien's got the early lead in the first period (sorry I wasn't home to watch this goal so I don't know the details). But the lead was short lived. Michael Ryder opened up the scoring for the Bruins to tie the game. With a little more than 2 minutes left in the first period he took advantage of a horrible defensive laps by the Canadiens.
Krecji carried the puck in front of the Canadien's net, but got wrapped up by 2 defenders and lost the puck. A third Canadien's defender came in to help, but ended up making things worse. When that third defender came in, Krecji stopped whacking at the puck to try to get control and peeled away. But at the same time the other two defenders did the same, expecting the incoming third defender to pick up the puck and take control. Unfortuantely for the Canadiens this third defender didn't have the same idea. He saw Krecji peel away, and thought one of the other two defenders would take the puck, so he started up ice. The all of a sudden, in comes Ryder, on a puck just sitting about 20 feet in front of the net, with the closest Canadien players all moving away from home. He must have thought they were playing a trick on him! He took the puck, and buried it.
The second goal came with just 30 seconds left in the first period was just a really sweet goal for the Bruins. The play started with Komisarek going out of position to try to make a big hit at center ice, letting the puck trickle by him towards the Canadien end. Krecji picked up the loose puck and carried it into the offensive zone. He then dodged a hit from Higgins, who like Komisarek tried to overplay the body, and found Ryder out in front of the net. After getting the pass from Krecji Ryder had a Canadien between him and the net, but he proved just how wiley a veteran he is at this point. Rather than try to shoot the puck through the defender, he went wide to the right, and pulled the defender with him. He then passed the puck back across the crease to a wide open Krecji. Krecji had a wide open net to tap it in. Just a really nice looking goal.
So the Canadien's went from being up 1 - 0 with 3 minutes left in the first period, to being down 2 - 1 at the end of the first.
Then Bergeron and Kessel got involved. Kessel took a slashing penalty and went to the box. The B's killed the penalty with not to much of a problem, and just as Kessel got out of the box Bergeron threw the puck up the right hand boards. Kessel picked up the loose puck of the bounce, walked in all alone on price, and put the puck in the net up high over Price.
Less than a minute later Krecji again makes a great play that leads to a goal. Krecji came down the right wing and at just about the faceoff dot and passed it across to Ryder who was coming in on the opposite wing for a wide open shot.
The third period was pretty uneventful, other than some more bad decisions by Komisarek. Who took a terrible 5 minute major late in the game. He is either the worst enforc er ever, a player with an insanely short fuse, or trying to get discovered by Dana White.
On top of all that the Canadien's got called for too many men on the ice with under a minute left to play in the game. Icing on the cake! When the final horn sounds its the Bs 4 the Canadiens 1. Seriously even if the Bs don't win the cup this year it was satisfying to just see the B's throroughly beat the Canadiens. The Bruins sweep Montreal, all is right with the universe!
